A Delhi court granted bail to AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in the alleged Delhi Jal Board sewage-treatment-plant tender corruption case.

What the court decided

Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh of the Rouse Avenue Court granted bail and directed Jain to furnish a personal bond of ₹2 lakh with two sureties of the like amount. The other accused remained in judicial custody.

Why the 27-month gap matters

The court’s bail reasoning highlighted an unexplained and extraordinary delay between registration of the FIR on May 11, 2024 and Jain’s arrest on August 18, 2026. The court noted that the delay indicated investigators had not considered his physical custody necessary for more than two years.

The allegations

The ACB alleges manipulation of DJB tender conditions to favour Euroteck Environment and other irregularities involving sewage-treatment projects. Jain has denied wrongdoing and argued that the tenders were floated while he was already in custody in another case.

What bail does not mean

Bail is not an acquittal. The allegations remain to be tested through the criminal proceedings.
