By idmahamad sekh

New Delhi, September 7, 2026: The Delhi High Court has ordered a high-level inquiry by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi into the Satya Niketan building collapse that killed seven people.
The court has also sought a comprehensive inspection of paying guest accommodations under the MCD and raised questions about the responsibility of civic authorities and other institutions.
The order comes as investigators examine the condition of the collapsed five-storey building, reported renovation activity and the safety of student accommodation in the area.
The court’s intervention puts fresh focus on whether safety inspections and enforcement are being carried out effectively before unsafe buildings are occupied.
