Four people were killed after an out-of-control truck crossed the divider on the Yamuna Expressway in the Jewar area of Greater Noida and crashed onto a car travelling towards Delhi.

What happened

The Rajasthan-registered truck reportedly lost control late Sunday night, broke through the divider and crossed into the opposite carriageway before landing on a Delhi-registered car.

Investigation

Police said all four occupants were taken to a hospital where doctors declared them dead. The truck driver was taken into custody for investigation and medical examination. The preliminary account pointed to loss of control, but the circumstances remain under investigation.

Traffic impact

The collision caused congestion while emergency teams cleared the damaged vehicles.
